August 29, 2023 – The HKPR District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health have partnered to deliver the Nurse-Family Partnership Program, an evidence-based home visiting service that ensures young expecting parents receive personal support during pregnancy and after the child is born up to two years of age. August 28, 2023 – The HKPR District Health Unit would like to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) on Thursday, August 31, 2023, by acknowledging all of those who have lost their lives, and those who have been left behind, due to drug poisoning and promoting community events to raise awareness. August 25, 2023 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) has issued a drug poisoning alert for the City of Kawartha Lakes due to an increase in suspected drug poisonings within the last seven days. Full Story.

August 25, 2023 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to commend Food for Kids City of Kawartha Lakes (Food for Kids CKL) on their commitment towards successfully implementing Student Nutrition Programs (SNPs) at all 32 local public schools. Each summer from June to August, the Health Unit does regular testing of beaches in the County of Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County to ensure they are safe for swimming. Test results are then shared on this website and via the Health Unit’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Port Hope, ON (July 31, 2023) - HKPR District Health Unit has issued a drug poisoning alert for the City of Kawartha Lakes after a noticeable increase in overdoses in the area. The substance of concern is unknown.
